Indo-German Energy Dialogue on Solar Power and Green Hydrogen

The Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO) organised the "Indo-German Energy Dialogue on Solar Power and Green Hydrogen" at Intersolar Europe 2023 in Munich on 15 June 2023. The event featured a presentation by Mr. Vinay Rustagi, Managing Director of Bridge to India, who provided comprehensive insights into the Indian solar market’s current state and outlined the country's goals for establishing a green hydrogen economy. Mr. Rustagi acknowledged the significant growth in solar installations in India since 2021 but stressed the ambitious targets for 2030. He highlighted the challenges posed by conflicts over land use and environmental regulations, leading the government's focus on green hydrogen. However, he emphasised that the future of green hydrogen in India relies on enhancing its economic viability, necessitating stronger incentives and policy support. Following the presentation, a discussion ensued, addressing audience inquiries about knowledge exchange between India and Germany and potential avenues for improvement.

Prior to the dialogue, political and business representatives from various Indian delegations and participants were able to network informally over a networking lunch. Organisations and companies from Germany and India were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and highlight potential areas to collaborate. The event emphasised networking and knowledge sharing among participants.

In the morning, a Roundtable on Solar Energy jointly organised by the Indian consulate in Munich, Solar Power Europe, and the Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO), set the scene for the day's events.
