H2Global Foundation Team visits India

Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director and Co-Chair of the Board of the H2Global Foundation, and Mr. Timo Bollerhey, Managing Director of HINT.CO GmbH and Co-Creator of the H2Global mechanism, were invited by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India to visit India from 5 - 9 August 2024. One important aim was to create awareness about the H2Global mechanism and the benefits of the global network provided by the H2Global Foundation. Through its international auctions for green hydrogen and its derivates, the company HINT.CO which is owned by the H2Global Foundation, is offering up to 10 year-long offtake agreements to participating companies from India. The green hydrogen derivates are then being sold to European clients.

The team was received by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India. Several meetings were held with Shri Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Hon’ble Secretary Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Shri Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary (Hydrogen), and Dr. Prasad Chaphekar, Deputy Secretary (Hydrogen), MNRE. During their time in Delhi they met with key industry players during an event hosted by the Hydrogen Association of India (HAI). The event was supported by several industry associations and green hydrogen stakeholder platforms such as Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) India, Sustainable Projects Developers Association (SPDA), PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Green Hydrogen Organisation India, Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task Force, Indo-German Energy Forum and Invest India.

In the state of Gujarat, the H2Global delegation met with senior Government officials, green hydrogen project developers, and representatives from business associations to discuss ongoing and upcoming tenders with opportunities for India. India’s participation in H2Global is seen as an essential contribution towards developing the country into an international green hydrogen hub. During a reception hosted by the International Green Hydrogen Organisation, Shri Arun Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) briefed the delegation about the large-scale renewable energy projects coming up in the state of Gujarat and in India. Those projects provide green power around the clock at globally lowest cost and would be key for globally competitive low cost of green molecules from India.

Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director and Co-Chair of the Board of H2Global Foundation, and Mr. Timo Bollerhey, CEO of HINT.CO GmbH and Co-Creator of H2Global, met with private players and stakeholders in New Delhi.

In Mumbai Dr. Moreira and Mr. Bollerhey spoke with representatives from public-sector undertakings (PSUs) as well as large scale renewable hydrogen project developers during an event hosted by the India Hydrogen Alliance (IH2A). During a meeting with Smt. Abha Shukla (IAS), Principal Secretary (Energy), Government of Maharashtra, conversations were held on how the H2Global mechanism would be a win-win for both countries.
