Transport, Storage and Consumption Meeting of Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task Force
The Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF) organised the first subworking group meeting on Transport, Storage and Consumption under the Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task Force on 19th January 2023. Dr. Nicole Glanemann, in-charge of the bilateral economic cooperation with India at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), delivered her welcome remarks by accentuating that the main goal of the task force and its subworking groups is to offer inputs on a joint Indo-German Green Hydrogen Roadmap which shall facilitate joint green hydrogen projects. With reference to this subworking group, Dr. Glanemann also welcomed ideas on policy regulations for market ramp up in the fields of transport, storage and consumption in India. Thereafter, Mr. Tobias Winter, Director of the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF-SO), gave an insight into the structure of the task force and its respective subworking groups to highlight its underlying goals.
Mr. Tom Mikus, Programme Manager at NOW GmbH, expressed his interest to head the group and was confirmed so upon no objections from the members. Mr. Mikus in consultation with IGEF will streamline topics of discussion, convene future meetings, and present the decisions taken to the Co-Chairs of the task force.
The discussions kickstarted with an interactive Q&A on the topic of transport, storage and offtake of green hydrogen and existing barriers. The interactive poll suggested that there is a great demand for green hydrogen and its derivatives in India. The floor was then opened to participants to discuss and share views on the next steps and industry needs in connection with the transport, storage and offtake/ consumption of green hydrogen in India.
