Indian Participation at European Hydrogen Week 2025

A high-level Indian delegation participated at European Hydrogen Week 2025, highlighting India’s strong engagement in global hydrogen cooperation. Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE addressed the audience at the opening ceremony of the conference on 30 September in Brussels, Belgium. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the success of India’s Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets 5 million tons of green hydrogen production by 2030 as part of India’s net-zero goal. He noted strong progress through policy incentives, electrolyser tenders which see strong interest, record-low green ammonia prices in tenders, and growing industrial offtake commitments. Emphasising collaboration with Europe, he described green hydrogen as the “new molecule of hope.”

The dialogue continued throughout the conference, with Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Director, SECI, joining the panel “Did H2 Bank deliver on expectations?” on 1 October. The session offered a reality check on one of the EU’s key demand-side support tools, exploring whether the EU’s financial architecture effectively supports market uptake and the bankability of hydrogen projects across Europe. Panellists included Mr. Alexandre Paquot, European Commission - DG CLIMA, Mr. Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri, Enagas, Mr. Dimitrios Triantafyllopoulos, Hellenic Hydrogen, and Mr. Philipp Offenberg, Siemens Energy.

On the same day, Mr. Abhay Bakre, Mission Director, MNRE, participated in a panel on international cooperation alongside Ms. Ingrid Hoven, CEO, GIZ, discussing how to build and sustain lead markets in Europe.
