Europe-India Business Roundtable on Green Hydrogen
The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in India, GH2 India, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp), Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO) organised the Europe-India Business Roundtable on Green Hydrogen on 28 January 2026, on the sidelines of India Energy Week (IEW), Goa.
The roundtable convened leading stakeholders from Europe and India to discuss emerging business opportunities across the green hydrogen value chain.
In his welcome address, Mr. Georg Jahnsen, Project lead, Green Hydrogen Projects, GIZ India acknowledged the participants for coming to the important dialogue especially amidst the EU-India Free Trade Agreement and other important recent developments in the green hydrogen environment.
Ms. Shivani Chaturvedi, Regional Director, IGCC in her opening remarks introduced the role IGCC is playing in bridging the business opportunities between Indian and German companies and noted that in green hydrogen environment across Europe and India, focus is strongly on commercially viable projects, long-term partnerships and cross-border value chains.
Mr. Han Feenstra, Senior Policy Advisor, Ministry of Climate Policy and Green Growth, Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in his remarks highlighted the initiatives undertaken by Netherlands in supporting the green hydrogen ecosystem including the efforts of Port of Rotterdam in strengthening itself to be a prime delivery point for green molecules in Europe.
During the "Setting the Context" session, Mr. Kumar Abhishek, Energy Advisor, GIZ India, presented the updates on Indian green hydrogen and derivatives ecosystem linking the narrative with hard facts. In the same session, Mr. Rajesh Mehta, Senior Consultant, TNO enlightened the participants with the policies and approach of the Government of Netherlands in energy transition efforts globally.
Mr. Aashish Mallik, Senior Market Intelligence Manager, thyssenkrupp nucera thereafter outlined the approach by nucera in supporting the ecosystem with its high-performance electrolysers. A moderated open discussion then provided space for private-sector leaders to address offtake readiness, economics, investment environment as well as challenge and opportunities to accelerate bankable Indo-European green hydrogen projects.
Participants used the informal gathering after the roundtable to deepen exchanges and explore potential partnerships, fostering enhanced collaboration between Europe and India on green hydrogen.
