Indo-German Energy Dialogue on Green Hydrogen and Offshore Wind

On the occasion of the visit of the official delegation of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, to Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, the Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO) organised a dialogue event on "Green Hydrogen and Offshore Wind”. The event took place on 29 September 2022 in the framework of the world’s biggest event for onshore and offshore wind: WindEnergy Hamburg 2022. Welcome remarks were given by Dr. Nicole Glanemann, Deputy Head, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and Smt. Suman Sharma, Managing Director, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

Mr. Stewart Mullin, COO, Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), gave an insightful presentation on the ongoing global developments in the field of green hydrogen production with offshore wind. Mr. Andreas Mummert, Head Government Affairs, Stiftung Offshore-Windenergie, focused on European developments of green hydrogen production with offshore wind. Mr. Rahul Pataballa and Mr. Shreenidhi Sharma, both NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd., gave an insightful presentation on the ongoing developments in India and the challenges for offshore wind along the way. Challenges on how to turn India into a global green hydrogen hub were discussed. The developers’ perspective was provided by Mr. Sven Utermöhlen, CEO Offshore Wind, RWE Renewables GmbH. More than 60 people attended the event.
