The third Indo-German Energy Forum in Berlin on 4 November 2009 decided to set up a support office for the IGEF (IGEF-SO) in order to strengthen the dialogue between business and government and provide support to all interested stakeholders (e.g. finance Institutes, industry associations, individual companies, NGOs, research institutes).
The IGEF-SO is jointly operated by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), German Development Bank (KfW) and the Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
With an extended number of team members and increased resources, the Support Office turned fully operational in September 2012.
The IGEF-SO is located at the respective GIZ offices in New Delhi, India, and in Berlin, Germany.
IGEF-SO provides liaison services for all stakeholders. It identifies possible topics for the IGEF dialogue and supports private-sector projects. It serves as a first point of contact both to the Indian and German governments as well as companies seeking to get involved in the process. Moreover, the IGEF-SO answers queries regarding proposals for the IGEF dialogue or IGEF projects and any other subject relevant to the private sector.
Assistance may take the form of consultancy and liaison services, conducting background studies or organising workshops.
